Legacy Award Recipient criteria:
- A long-time pioneer business person.
- A member of the business community who was responsible for a major development in the city and who may not qualify for an award within the existing categories.
- A member of government, or agent of government at the civic or provincial or federal level who was singularly or primarily responsible for a major development in the city of Prince Albert or any nomination that is approved unanimously by the organizing committee.
Roses Stewart recognized with 2019 Legacy Award
Roses Stewart was born and brought up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. She moved to Prince Albert in 1975, having received a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan.
While living in Prince Albert, she brought up three children, Stephen, Missy and Mitchell Mamchur. She worked full time in various pharmacies in and around the city. Her first position was at Medical Pharmacy, working with Al Meyer, Wilf Lohrenz and Dave Pickering. In 1994, she purchased a small dispensary at The Victoria Square, which is situated beside her present Pharmacy and Medical Building.
During the last 25 years, she has developed a specialty in Compounding and Consulting. Over the years, she has attended many educational seminars and conferences, gaining additional qualifications. Her areas of expertise include women’s health, men’s health, management of pain, geriatric care and palliative care.
The Medical Building in which the Victoria Square Compounding Pharmacy is located, was conceived about 10 years ago and completed in 2011. It houses a pharmacy, paediatricians, otolaryngologist, hearing specialist, chiropractor, sociologists, a psychologist and a coffee shop.
The Pharmacy has a state of the art compounding laboratory, in which sterile and non sterile pharmaceuticals are created. In addition to this, the pharmacy provides cutting edge packaging and clinical services to a number of the long term care facilities in the city.
Roses has been very dedicated to her work. She endeavours to exceed her patient’s expectations every day. Her passion and calling guides her patients to the healthiest versions of themselves. She loves being a part of this community and making it a better place any way she can.
