That’s what happened to local stylist Jaret Mayer when he and his wife, Meghan attended a recent convention in Las Vegas. Jaret and Meghan Mayer own Salon 6 in Prince Albert and have built a business out of their skills in hair and nail care.
The couple attended the International Beauty Show in Las Vegas in June. The annual event is a chance to learn from others in their field, discover new products and get tips on managing your business.
During the show, Meghan said she was excited to be pulled up onto the main stage by Michael O’Rourke, a famous stylist to the stars. After learning her husband Jaret had cut her hair, O’Rourke pulled him onto the stage to review the cut.
Jaret is a big fan of O’Rourke, who has developed his own line of hair care products and is considered one of the best in the industry. But, it was O’Rourke who was impressed when he reviewed Jaret’s work in Las Vegas.
O’Rourke was so impressed that he asked Jaret to demonstrate his cutting technique for the crowd, which O’Rourke said was exactly the way he would do it himself.
“It was a really big honour for Jaret,” Meghan said.
Jaret said he was very excited to have his work recognized by such a well-known and respected stylist. Although he’s been cutting hair for years, he still had a hard time calming his nerves on stage.
“There were all these people watching you and you’re trying not to cut your fingers,” he joked.
The Mayers enjoy attending the International Beauty Show every year and say it’s important to stay on top of the latest styles and trends. The couple has been in business together for four years and say working together was the best decision they ever made.
“We make a good team,” Meghan added.
