Now in its seventh year, Red Cross Pink Day aims to raise awareness about the impact of bullying and what people can do to create safe and respectful environments. For each official Red Cross Pink Day shirt sold, the Canadian Red Cross can teach one student how to recognize, address and prevent bullying.
With Red Cross Pink Day falling during February student break, the Red Cross is planning massive student rallies to be held the week before in Saskatoon (Feb. 13), Regina (Feb. 15) and Prince Albert (Feb. 17) for more than 10,000 students participating in-person and online.
The business community is being encouraged to celebrate on February 22 by wearing official Red Cross Pink Day gear, sponsoring schools and hosting fundraisers.
“It's so important that the Canadian Red Cross continues to provide the students of Saskatchewan with the education and the tools that they need to go out and help others,” said Luc Mullinder, Project Manager for Red Cross Imagine No Bullying campaign. “Now, more than ever, we need to empower our youth. By engaging in Red Cross Pink Day, the people in this province are giving our students the ability to Be Someone Else's Hero!”
This year, the Red Cross has completely redesigned the iconic t-shirt and has introduced a line of socks to appeal to the business community.
The proceeds from each Red Cross Pink Day t-shirt give us the ability to reach one student with bullying prevention messages. Official gear can be purchased at www.redcross.ca/pinksk.
This year’s Red Cross Pink Day is proudly presented by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, AGT Foods, STC, Extreme Hockey, Dupont, K+S Foods and Canadian Digital Network.
The Canadian Red Cross is Canada’s leader in bullying prevention education. Children, youth and adults are educated through Canadian Red Cross Respect Education programs to be able to recognize, respond to and prevent bullying behaviour.
