Fred Matheson, who operates Ted Matheson Men's Wear in downtown Prince Albert, gave credit to his team, including his staff and family. A family-owned business in Prince Albert for 88 years, Ted Matheson Men's Wear is a long-time member of the Chamber, and Fred Matheson has been active within the organization for a number of years. Fred has previously served as a member of the Chamber Board of Directors and continues to participate in Chamber events.
Though he was just out of university when he joined the Chamber Board of Directors in 1986, Fred said he was welcomed by the business community.
"I learned a lot from my peers and those people," he said. "Here I was, a younger man in an older man's community and they made me feel at home."
In her address to the crowd, Meghan Mayer said she was honoured to hold the position of board chair, adding that she has learned a lot since joining the Chamber Board of Directors six years ago. Ms. Mayer said the Chamber fights for business and she will do her best to support and promote the local business community.
The Keynote speaker for the evening, Donald Cooper, challenged the crowd to think about their businesses by how they help their clients and customers, rather than just what they sell. Be clear about your goals and make your business stand out from the competition.
Donald Cooper also provided the crowd with information on how they can access free business assessment and management tools. For more on this, please visit www.donaldcooper.com/fbt
